UAE based facilities management service provider, Emrill, was on-site for the tenth consecutive year to provide cleaning services following new year’s eve celebrations in Emaar’s popular community, Downtown Dubai.
Every year, spectators flock to Downtown Dubai to attend the world-famous fireworks and laser show which are viewed around the world. This year proved to be especially popular, drawing huge crowds to witness the record-breaking show. Emrill cleaned the surrounding areas of Emaar’s flagship community, including Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashed Boulevard, Souk Al Bahar bridge, and surrounding plaza, park and promenade areas. This year, Emrill returned the sites to their original states and were able to reopen them to the public by 1:30 am on January 1, 2023.
No covid restrictions at this year’s festivities resulted in higher numbers of onlookers at the event, yet Emrill managed to reopen the sites a full hour earlier than in the previous year. To ensure operations progressed smoothly despite the anticipated higher volume of visitors, Emrill began preparations for the event months in advance.
Emrill facilitated wider viewing areas for visitors by removing planter pots and scenic furniture prior to the event and also installed additional waste bins, provided temporary waste storage areas, and installed supplementary lighting fixtures. The FM service provider also arranged additional power supply chains to allow for more club cars used for operations during the event. Emrill worked closely with the Downtown Dubai master community to ensure the safety of spectators during the new year’s eve event and efficient post-show clean-up.
Emrill utilised specialised cleaning equipment after the conclusion of celebrations to return the sites to their original states, including the CMAR street cleaner, road and pavement sweeper machinery, and mobile high-pressure washers. The use of high-powered and industry-specialist machinery, along with Emrill’s dedicated cleaning teams, enabled the cleaning all of the sites in a shorter amount of time.
Emrill’s operations director, Gopalakrishnan, said: “We are proud to have concluded our clean-up activities a full hour before our 2022 efforts, even with an increased number in footfall and spectators. This is a great achievement for our tenth year of new year’s eve clean-up activities in Downtown Dubai. It is a testament to our team and the planning efforts in the lead-up to the world-renowned firework display.”
Emrill mobilised 262 cleaning operatives, 45 technicians and 34 supervisors and managers to aid in the clean-up efforts. During the new year’s eve celebrations, Emrill’s teams were responsible for the safety and cleanliness of a two square-kilometre area and were tasked with the removal of litter, frequent emptying of waste containers and ashtrays to minimise the risk of fire, and keeping pathways clear of any obstructions.
Gopalakrishnan concluded: “Emrill places great importance on the health and safety of our community’s residents and visitors. We take the responsibility of creating a safe, secure, accident-free environment for the tens of thousands of spectators who visited Downtown Dubai very seriously. We are proud of our team for going above and beyond in providing exceptional service to this event each year.”
Emrill has also provided cleaning services to other prestigious Dubai locations and communities following new year’s eve celebrations.
