This move furthers Emrill’s mission to “fully embed internationally recognised facilities management (FM) standards into the airside environment and to raise overall industry standards.
The centre will support its team of 740 cleaning and janitorial staff.
The airside BICSc training room facilitates the ongoing training of cleaning and janitorial staff from twelve nationalities working in various shifts on the 24-hour, seven-day-a-week airport facilities management contract.
Dorothee Stein, head of facility care operations at Dubai Airports said: “This initiative will go a long way in improving operational efficiency and enhance service delivery across the airport. Our association with Emrill goes back to 2015 when we first contracted them for facilities management cleaning services at DXB and we are pleased with their reliability and quality of service.”
Alex Davies, managing director of Emrill explained the new development by saying: “The opening of a dedicated BICSc training room demonstrates our commitment to tailoring our services to the unique needs of aviation industry clients and is part of our strategic business objective to further grow our footprint in airport and aviation facilities management.
The new facility consists of a real-life environment training room with cleaning and housekeeping mock-ups and colour-coded static displays of equipment and materials meaning our BICSc assessor can deliver certified ongoing training courses without staff needing to leave the airport environment.
Davies also revealed that this type of training and up-skilling throughout the entire company has resulted in a 17% increase in internal staff promotions over the past year at Emrill and has helped the firm meet its talent development and retention targets.
In addition to soft facilities management services, Emrill also provides a range of NICEIC accredited technical and hard services to airport and aviation operators throughout the UAE.
The British Institute of Cleaning Science (BICSc) is the largest independent, professional and educational body within the international cleaning industry, with over 25,000 individual and corporate members in the UK and overseas.
