EMRILL LEADS THE WAY IN ENERGY OPTIMISATION WITH ITS BESPOKE ENERGY SOLUTION, RESULTING IN SUSTAINED SAVINGS

With the UAE being rated 3rd highest user of energy per capita in the world, it is faced with the urgent challenge to reduce consumption without compromising on lifestyle. A review of local data for the region with reference to building energy consumption revealed that up to 70% of consumption is linked to cooling.

Emrill Energy was the brainchild of Emrill Services to address these concerns making it the first FM company in the Middle East to introduce a full service energy services division. Emrill Energy combined best practice maintenance’ with solid energy efficiency engineering to guarantee a percentage of savings from utility consumption for clients with large complexes from the residential, commercial, industrial and hospitality sectors. Due to design, operations and the model of building investment, savings of up to 45% can be found on systems. This has a material impact on both the energy efficiency and the system asset life cycle.

In most cases regionally, at the current cost of energy for medium to high-rise buildings the implementation of energy engineering solutions can give a Return of Investment (ROI) in less than 3 years with consumption savings of 15-40%. Emrill Energy developed an energy-driven facilities management tool called EDFM to facilitate this allowing synergies of technical hard FM services and bespoke energy solution designs to have a full impact on the reduction of operating costs with minimal impact to the end users. By using the EDFM model and combining best practice maintenance with energy optimisation, sustained savings can be achieved that will centre efforts on increasing the longevity of assets and systems within a building, while achieving the least amount of downtime for maintenance.

The demand for energy will rise due to a predicted increase in population and infrastructure which in turn has resulted in a greater drive from the government to achieve the Integrated Energy Strategy 2030. There will also be greater pressure placed on developers and construction organisations to comply and consider operational efficiencies related to energy consumption within the initial design of buildings.

Facilities and buildings owners are beginning to realise that a majority of their savings reside in utility costs which amount to 4 times more than the amount paid for FM provisions per square metre which will result in an accelerated demand for competent, professional and qualified professionals and companies in the region to achieve the targets set within the State of the Energy Report 2014 and the first step of the journey is the formal accreditation of ESCO’s in the region.
