Emrill DXB safety plan clocks 30,000+ hours without incident

Programme’s challenge was delivering training for high-level maintenance at an airport that works in an active 24/7 environment.

Facility management company Emrill has revealed its training programme has led to Dubai International (DXB) accumulating 30,368 hours of high level maintenance operations without incident or disruption at the airport.

Normally airports close part or all of their terminal concourses in the late evening for high level cleaning and maintenance. Emrill’s challenge at DXB was delivering essential maintenance in the public concourse area of an airport that never closes and which recorded 5.8 percent traffic growth in August 2016 alone.

The initial four week programme involved 24 Emrill staff and comprised intensive familiarisation tours conducted by DXB personnel, training for MEWP (Mobile Elevated Working Platform) operators on scissor lifts and cherry pickers, and on-going supervision to ensure active work areas were properly cordoned off. Assessment of trained staff was then conducted by the Dubai Airport Engineering team who issued Terminal Driving Permits authorising Emrill staff to work within the airport.

Emrill currently holds the airside facilities manage
ment soft services and cleaning contract for DXB airport Terminal 3 Concourses B and C.
