UAE Company offering 360 days maternity leave urges others to follow suit

Dubai, December 8, 2016 ,With the recent extension of maternity leave in the UAE labour law, a company that’s already offering a total of 360 days is urging others to follow suit.


Facilities management firm Emrill gives mothers three months of paid leave, three months at half pay, and a further 180 days without pay.


The UAE labour law allows 45 days of fully paid maternity leave in the private sector, and 60 days in the public sector, with both providing a further 100 days unpaid leave thereafter.


Minelle Gholami, People Director at Emrill spoke to ARN News about the importance of offering this type of cover and the positive impact it has on employees.


Emrill also offers its male employees 2 weeks of paternity leave which is one and a half times what the law provides.


They say it’s an important policy, as many expat fathers live away from their families.

Minelle Gholami explains why they decided to extend the entitlements.
